The Council accredits post-secondary occupational institutions that offer certificate, diploma or applied associate degree programs. The mission of the Council is “assuring quality and integrity in career and technical education.” |
The COE was originally founded in 1971 as a regional accrediting agency of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, is the successor to the Commission on Occupational Education Institutions (COEI). In 1995, the Council became a national accrediting agency. Throughout its history, the Council and its predecessor agency have been recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a reliable authority on the quality of education offered by the institutions it has accredited. | |
