Program Description

The Master of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology (MSIO) program is an online graduate program that follows the scientist-practitioner model of graduate education. That is, we train master's students in the application of psychological principles to the workplace, built upon a foundation of research and science.

Austin Peay's MSIO program follows the Guidelines for Master's Level Training set forth by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), the premier organization for those practicing and teaching in our field. You don't have to sacrifice quality training and academic rigor for the convenience of online learning. We uphold our program to the same SIOP standards as a traditional brick-and-mortar program. You'll also have access to the same peer and faculty support you're used to through virtual classrooms, discussion boards, live video recordings, messenger, phone, and email as well as new learning technologies as they become available.

The flexibility of our online program can accommodate students who are primarily focusing on graduate studies and those who are also working full time. Without the physical boundaries of a traditional classroom, we regularly have students joining us from all over the United States with a variety of work experiences. Taking classes with students from such diverse backgrounds and experiences makes for lively and insightful classroom discussion about the application of I-O principles to the real world.

Through the MSIO Program, you will be trained in I-O Psychology theories and research methods, studying the application of this knowledge to various work settings such as private industry and government. You can develop your expertise in a variety of areas including personnel selection and assessment, training and development, performance management, motivation, team performance, and leadership.
