Teacher Education Program
The Special Education additional endorsement is available at both the graduate and the undergraduate level in a flexible, online format. ETSU offers three areas of endorsement emphasis which includes Mild/Moderate, Comprehensive and Early Childhood Disabilities. Undergraduate courses are listed as 4000-level courses; graduate courses are listed as 5000- or 6000-level courses according to university policy.
The Mild/Moderate endorsement prepares teachers of students with mild and moderate disabilities. These students can participate in the regular curriculum with appropriate adaptations and support. (K-12)
The Comprehensive endorsement prepares teachers of students with severe and multiple disabilities. (K-12)
The Early Childhood Disabilities endorsement prepares teachers to work with young children (from birth through age 8) with disabilities and developmental delays. (Pre K-3)

The courses that comprise the endorsement program are offered through a cooperative development and delivery model among TBR institutions. The model provides a platform for TBR institutions to share valuable intellectual resources which enrich program offerings.
As an online student, you gain access to highly-qualified faculty from both the campus where you are studying to earn your endorsement as well as other institutions across the TBR system. You gain exposure to a wide range of opinions, philosophies, perspectives and experiences that you might not otherwise obtain. The students in your classes are also from other institutions across the TBR system which further contributes to a unique online learning experience.
The Additional Endorsements online program is designed to assist those certified teachers who are currently teaching outside their discipline/subject certification area in completing the certification required for their current teaching position. This program is also available to teachers who wish to add an additional endorsement.
