Program Description

One of MTSU's most popular degree programs, the Bachelor of Liberal Studies program provides students with a well-rounded, liberal studies education. Program structure gives students the flexibility to customize their degree around emphasis areas. Those seeking this accelerated path to graduation choose two areas of emphasis (12 hours each) to meet personal and professional goals. Sample study subjects include agribusiness, child and family studies, communication, criminal justice, cultural studies, English or writing, geography, health, human sciences, industrial studies, information technology, journalism or public relations, leadership, nutrition, office management, political science, psychology, recording industry, sociology, Spanish, teaching and learning, and women’s studies.

Many of courses that comprise the degree program are offered through a cooperative development and delivery model among public universities in Tennessee. The model provides a platform for these institutions to share valuable intellectual resources which enrich program offerings.

As an online student, you gain access to highly-qualified faculty from both the campus where you are studying to earn your degree as well as other institutions across the state. You gain exposure to a wide range of opinions, philosophies, perspectives and experiences that you might not otherwise obtain. The students in your classes are also from other institutions across the state which further contributes to a unique online learning experience.

Who Should Apply?

This program is ideally suited for adult students who have completed an associate's degree or those who have earned a substantial number of college credits from other institutions and are interested in completing their degree.
